Don't Leave Me Lonely, King Floyd

King Floyd has apparently died. I cannot find any information on this with the exception of this post at The Stepfather of Soul. Another New Orleans great has passed, and even though it may still be early, it's sad that most people will be blissfully unaware of his passing, if they even know who he is at all. Everyone knows his 1971 single "Groove Me," however, which the Stepfather of Soul linked to in his post.

No one could "unh" quite like King Floyd, nor "sookie sookie." Although "Groove Me" was his only major hit, his legacy should not be ignored. A few months ago, I found "Handle with Care" over at the B Side, and it is every bit as good as "Groove Me," contrasting his usual funky dance style with a languorous and beautiful ballad.
